How to Join a Session with session link

Purpose:

The purpose of this document is to provide a step-by-step guide on how to join the session with the session link.

Requirements:

Have been provided with the time and date of the session and the session link.
Completed the VC - Accessing the Virtual Classroom platform for the first time process

Instructions – Read:

1. Open the email you have received with the session link. Click on the session link to join the session.

Note: Please login 15 minutes before the commencing time. This will give you time to troubleshoot the problem if there are any.

2. Login with your registered email address and password that you created as part of the VC - Accessing the Virtual Classroom platform for the first time process.

3. On the first time that you access the Virtual Classroom session, your browser may ask for the permission to access your camera and microphone. Click on “Allow” to start setting up your camera and microphone.

Note: If you have clicked on “Block,” please double click on the icon and change the permission of camera and microphone to allow

4. Test your setup before joining your session:

Camera: Check if your camera is working. You can change the device by using the drop menu if the camera not working.

Audio output: Click on “Test audio” to check if you can hear the sounds. Change the device if your speaker is not working properly.

Microphone: Try to speak to see if the bar is moving. There is audio input if the bar keeps moving. You can see the notification said “Great! Microphone is working fine”. Change the device if your microphone is not working properly.

Internet connection: Please wait for it to verify your internet connect. You will receive the notification about your internet connection when done.

5. After the visual, audio and internet connection check, click on “Join session”.

6. Success! You should now be in the Virtual Classroom session.

Best Practice Recommendations for BAU:

DO’S

We would recommend logging to the platform 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled start time. This will help you to identify if there are any problems and have them resolved before the session start.
Double check the session name/date/time of the session to make sure you join the correct one.

DON’T’S

You must allow the browser to access your camera and microphone. You cannot join a session without camera and microphone permission. Check your browser settings by clicking on the camera icon in the URL as per below image, and set to 'Continue allowing'. More info: Chrome, Edge and Safari.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

If you accidentally clicked “Block” in either of the pop-ups, click the lock icon on the left side of the URL address bar.
